Investors and capital owners

We advise private equity and venture capital firms, long-term owners, family offices investing directly and asset managers on their standing with investors, companies and partners. Investors read the house more often than they meet it, and when records are close the decision forms on what they can verify. Our work connects the firm’s proposition, its portfolio companies’ progress and the moments when capital changes hands.

When clients call us

When a new strategy or investor audience changes what the firm must explain. A credit strategy beside the buyout fund, an evergreen vehicle for wealth channels. We establish how the intended investors read the house, whether the new strategy adds to the franchise or dilutes its claim to focus, then build the story, proof and language that hold across partners and documents.

When a portfolio company needs a stronger position to support growth. The durable part of a return is earned in operations, and a buyer credits what it can verify. We work with management and the owner on customers, differentiation and partnerships, building the evidence before a financing or exit. Positioning does not open an exit window. It decides what a buyer finds when one opens.

When a transaction or capital-formation window opens. A sale process, a listing, a continuation vehicle or a fundraising runs on a calendar the firm does not set. We work with leadership, the bank and counsel on the sequence: who hears what and when, which stakeholders must be aligned before an announcement and how the documents and conversations stay one account until the process closes.

When the firm’s conduct or ownership is under scrutiny. Private ownership of care providers, infrastructure or public contractors is a political question in several European countries, and a missed mark is read against every other mark. We establish the facts and concerns, assess the response with leadership and build the case from what the firm and its companies have done, with counsel and public affairs.

The role we play

Our work sits at investment-firm, portfolio-company or transaction level. We establish whose interests the mandate serves, the firm’s or a portfolio company’s, and work with the responsible leadership and relevant advisers, who keep their roles. We give the advice personally and do the work ourselves.

Relevant experience

Our work has included buyout and growth investors, venture initiatives and investment firms, and the companies they own. Assignments have covered what a house claims to investors and what it can evidence, the position of a portfolio company ahead of a financing, leadership profiles and the periods that test confidence: a missed mark, a dispute, a public question.

Working with us

What makes the firm a credible choice for its intended investors, companies or partners is a question the record answers in part. We test the proposition against the decisions behind that record, portfolio progress and the experience of those relationships: allocators discount a valuation they cannot verify, and standing, once earned, compounds. Claims the evidence supports go into the proposition. Ambitions that need further work become the plan. Where the brief concerns a portfolio company, we start with its customers and growth priorities, agreeing with management and the owner which question the work resolves.
